Honda Repair: Honda CRX Del Sol Sir VTEC DOHC 1992, honda crx del sol, crx del sol

Question
Hi Craig,
A couple of questions. Would really appreciate any info you can give me as I am at the end of my tether. I have the above car which was constructed solely for the Japanese market in 1992 (I have the official date from Honda Japan as I thought they started in 1993). It is the one with the electric roof which folds slided into the boot.I would like to find a manual for this car but have had no success. All they offer me is the Haines manual for the CRX SOHC versions.

The second problem is that the aerial has 3 inches broken off the top and I can see no gear inside the mast. I have removed the special nut, washer and bush and turned on the radio but the mast did not come free. I have now removed the screws which attached the motor assembly to the side of the car and it is now hanging inside my boot. What happens then. I am frightened to open the part where I know the gear goes in in case it explodes out like a piece of clockwork. When I have removed this Antenna mast am I looking to replace it with.

Think twice before answering as if your answer is as good as I think it will be then you will have a permanent internet stalker as I try to improve this car over the summer!!! Lots more questions.

Best Regards

Rob

Answer
Your best bet for a manual may be ebay and find a delsol manual (would say 94-95).  It does have the info on that engine (the us model) Not sure if you will be able to find the actual manual for that car in english.

Also the mast is challenging.  Do you have a new mast to look at?  That might help.  There is a small metal ring that is part of that mast that usually gets suck in the motor.  If you have that ring off, you would be able to grab whats left of the mast and pull.  Should be able to get most of it out.  You will have to remove the small round metal cover off the motor and remove the broken piece of the mast out of the motor.

Send me your email address if you need help.
