Honda Repair: 1993 honda accord 153,000 miles sometimes starts and sometimes doesnt!!!, little honda, honda accord

Question
Ok Rick, heres the info as I have it!
We bought this 1993 Honda Accord w/ 145,000 miles on it last June from someone a couple of streets over, they were the orginal owners and kept everything up on the car... We even kept the shop were they had the vehicle serviced and they said what a great car it is. The "great" car has died 4 times over the last year and has been towed to the shop. The last time it was in they replaced the main fuel injection relay. When the car gets to the shop the owner says it starts right up and he even took it home for a couple days to start and drive it but did not have any problems.... I dont know if it would be better to take the honda to the dealership or find someplace else to take it. When the car dies it still has all the electrical on and sometimes if we wait about 30 min. it will start up after not starting the first time. IM feeling very frustrated since this was the car my daughter is supposed to be taking to college in the fall! I have almost lost faith in my little honda that was supposed to live "forever". We really want to keep the car, the outside doesnt have a scratch on it! So what do you think? Laura in VA

Answer
Laura, I understand your frustration and your concern for your daughters trouble free driving. Intermittent problems are very difficult to diagnose. Does the car die while driving or just doesn't start? If it was me and the car was acting up by not starting I would have probably replaced the main relay as well. Was it the dealer that replaced it and if not was it a new relay from the dealer? Either way, the best thing to do is when the car dies or doesn't start you have to find out whats missing, either fuel or spark. Either you can check it or someone you know. If you need help in order how to figure that out please let me know, RICK
