Honda Repair: 95 Accord 4cyl oil light, oil sending unit, intank

Question
I have 118k highway miles on my (original owner) 95 accord.  Oil level is fine.  Recently oil light has started to come on after 10-20 or so miles of driving.  sometimes it flashes and other times it comes on steady.  I stop and turn off engine.  restart it and no light and then sometimes it comes on again within couple miles and then other times it doesn't.  sometimes a couple days goes by and no light comes on and then other times its every day.  I have changed oil and filter every 5k religiously during the entire 11 years I owned.  Do you think it could be the oil sending unit/sensor?  I saw where someone mentioned sludge possibly blocking oil intank in bottom of pan in some other forum.  Is there a way to diagnose this problem?  I can do mechanical work if I know what to go after. Should I drop the pan to see if sludge is blocking?  Is there a way I could determine it is the sensor?  I don't think pulling the front end of the motor to replace the oil pump is what I want to do unless it is the fix.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Answer
Mike,
Have oil pressure checked by someone who has a mechcanical guage. Oil pressure is too important to guess while risking a very expensive engine. I'm gonna say it's the sending unit, but I wouldn't mess around "trying things". Have the pressure confirmed before you loose an engine!!!!
