Honda Repair: fast idle valve (carburetor engine), vacuum leak, valve carburetor

Question
I have a 1989 Accord DX 5 speed 2.0, The car behaves really strange when air temperatures drop down(winter time) the RPMS go up to 4000 and for a long period of time before the car reaches normal temperature(sometimes it take 30 minutes before they go down). On the other hand when the RPM are not too high, they are too low and the car starts to stall, It seems to me something related to the carburetor. Is there a fast idle valve in this carburetor engine, and if it is Where is it? or what could be the problem. Appreciate any comments

regards,

Luis

Answer
Luis, Yes there is a fast idle valve located on the back side of the carburetor to the left (as you face engine) of the air cleaner. You should check for a vacuum leak also. I would suggest purchasing a repair manual, usually about $18 and that shows where components are much better than I can describe.
Good luck.
