Honda Repair: 1987 honda accord exi, expert shop, throttle valve

Question
Hello again Bill...guess who? Mona.  Hahaha YUP it's me again! Ok I know I probably sound like a pain in the ars but let me tell you what happened in the last couple of days.  Like I said before, when it was colder outside, it never acted up. Now that its warmed up, its doing it again! The transmission guy calls me and says, hey...can you take your car to this Honda Expert Shop and let the foreman (a buddy of his) check it out, I want another opinion about what he thinks is wrong with your car, I said "no problem". I took it in, explained the situation, they were UNABLE TO DUPLICATE MY COMPLAINT (OF COURSE)and said they adjusted the throttle cable, checked the cable to see if it was faulty (apparently it wasn't...as the cable was free) whatever that means. Cleaned the throttle (how? I dont know) and said my problem was the throttle valve as I was told before. NOW the problem here is when the honda expert called the tranny guy, he told him he never duplicated the problem, he was just assuming that based on what I had told him the car was doing. The tranny guy STILL DOES NOT BELIEVE that it is the throttle valve!!! The tranny guy said to me...MOna, the gas pedal is not stiff, I was able to floor it, the trans never revved up, the rpm's stayed the same but I heard some sort of a noise (like the engine is choking up) when the car acted up. So I don't believe it was the throttle valve because You could press the pedal down to the floor no problem. Now Bill, Let me mention to you that maybe I never explained it properly. I thought the pedal was stiff when I drove it and experienced the problem (NOW MY SISTER DRIVES IT) and she says the same thing the tranny guy says....ITS NOT STIFF, it just doesnt go sometimes when you acclerate. Then after a few long seconds,,,it will kick in and go. (I dont know, i only experienced it twice) So maybe I was thinking it was stiff and it really wasn't (it just wasnt going) I dunno. Ok so the tranny guy says to me... Listen, when you (I) explained your problem...I assumed it was the throtle valve but since I drove and duplicated the problem...Ive changed my mind because how you (I) explained it was not accurate. He also said, he didn't wanna R&R the tranny and replace that valve to find out it was NOT the valve and the problem persists because he so strongly feels it is not that. ( I mean he is the tranny expert) and he said he doesn't want me wasting my $$$ on a tranny repair that he feels is not the problem and end up at square one because by the time I pay for the repair and all the bull**** (taking it from shop to shop to Diagnose) I might as well buy a new car! Now I've spent $500.00 on just getting opinions from different shops about my problem and Im not getting anywhere!!! This poor tranny guy is tring to save me from wasting my $$$ on something he doesn't feel is the problem. DID ANYTHING THAT i TELL YOU NOW ChANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT THAT DAMN VALVE? Since I explained it incorrectly the first time? (gas pedal is NOT stiff apparently and you CAN press it...it just doesn't go and the rpms stay the same and the speed does not increase and it doesnt rev up or anything) Damn it...I got so screwed when I bought this piece of SH**!!! ANyhow, tranny man suspects it has something to do with the engine or a sensor? Any thoughts? AGAIN>> I AM SOOOO SORRY FOR ANNOYING YOU! P.S. I had to pay another $100.00 today to the "honda expert" who just thinks it may be that but cant say forsure because he wasnt able to duplicte it!!! Man Im so broke now and my car....STILL BROKE! Anyone wanna buy my honda? hahahaha
Thanks for listening again!

Answer
WOW. I am so sorry to hear this, I mean it. This is part of the reason why I try to answer questions or at least give direction. Mona after reading this (several time) I would agree with the tranny guy. Wherever you take it, make sure they experience the problem and know exactly what the problem is. When they repair it make sure they say they repaired it, not that they think they repaired it. If you can recreate the problem, they should be able to repair the car. It is a crap shoot if it is intermittent, that is why they must experience the problem, not take your word for it. The only other thing you can do is take your car somewhere really, really cold and SELL IT!! Don't worry about bothering me (you're not), I just hope I am of some help. Keep me informed of what happens.
Good luck Mona.
Bill
