You will need to test the EGR valve to make sure it is not clogged. To do this, with the engine at normal temperature and in neutral, using a hand held vacuum pump slowly apply 8 in. Hg (26 kPa) of vacuum to EGR valve. If the idle drops more than 100 rpm with the vacuum applied and returns to normal after the vacuum is removed, the EGR valve is okay. Otherwise you will need to inspect the EGR for blockage and/or replace.
