Honda Repair: Cool/Hot air control problem, plastic pieces, climate control

1992 Accord (LX-Auto)
The climate control cable seems to have snaped (are broke lose) that controls either cool or hot air. Does the control unit need to be repalced and is there any other issue I should be concerned about replacing that caused the cable to break loose? Is there a web site that can give me instruction fixing this problem?

that is a really long process to fix because the dash would all be taken apart for just a little box that needs replacement and Im not quite sure of a website to help on that I would purchase the Honda accord Haynes repair manual if gives very detailed instructions on what to do. There should not be any other issues related to that it just gets normal wear and tear due to adjusting so much and sometimes when people sit in passenger kick under there and crack plastic pieces.
