Honda Repair: 93 honda prelude si, 93 honda prelude, piston rod

Question
i'm on a limited budget right now, my mechanic tells me my car(see ques. sbjct) is about to throw a piston rod and that it could happen at any given time, he recommends complete engine replacement, which i can't afford, but neither can i afford to buy another vehicle right now. can the piston rod be replaced? what other options might i have? this diagnosis was made based on the "sounds like a rock tumbler underneath the front end of my car"/knocking.  do you have perchance an idea of how much the bill might come to on the parts and how many hours i can expect my mechanic to charge me for?
thank you for your time and consideration

Answer
HONESTLY THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO REPLACE THE MOTOR IF THE ROD IS KNOCKING BUT THE PISTON ROD CAN BE REPLACED BUT IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MOTOR YOU CAN PICK UP A USED MOTOR FOR ABOUT $400 TO $500 AT A JUNKYARD I HAVE A JUNKYARD MOTOR IN MY CAR AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING FOR ME FOR 2 YEARS AND STILL GOING ON STRONG SO THAT IS THE BEST THING TO DO.
