Honda Repair: 95 Honda Civic Speedometer Problem, speedometer check, broken wires

Question
I bought this car for my daughter.  Everything's in great shape except the speedometer.  It randomly goes from a steady reading, to jittery, to nothing.  I checked the harness connection to the sending unit & it seems OK.  Is there a common cause for this condition for '95 Civics?
Thanks for your consideration.

Steve:
I'm not sure if your speedometer is cable or electronically operated. If it is cable operated, check the wiring between the speed sensor and the speedometer. Check for corroded terminals, loose connections or broken wires. Also you should check the speed sensor pickup. If it is cable operated, check the cable to make sure it is fully installed, check the cable ends for wear and rounding.
Good luck.
