Honda Repair: 90 Prelude loss of lights, man of the hour, stereo cd

Question
Hi Bill,

I see that you primarily work on Accords, but seem to be the man of the hour for Hondas in general, so I'm hoping you can help me!  I drive a 1990 Prelude-Automatic Transmission.  I have recently lost the lighting inside my dash, and then a few weeks later, my tail-lights.  I have taken it to Honda themselves as well as a few nechanics around my city (Calgary), and no one seems to know what's wrong with it.  I have only owned the car for about 2 months, and the only electrical work I have done to it is add a stereo (CD player) and speakers in the back dash.  The lights worked well after both of these installations, so I don't know what to do!!  Please let me know if you can help!

Finding electrical problems can be some of the most time consuming problems to run down, but they should still be able to find them. I'm sure the fuses have been check; the next thing that needs to be checked is the wiring to the brake lights and dash. Having the stereo installed should not in any way cause this and it would have shown up then. You will need to find a mechanic who will take the time to diagnosis what is wrong and fix.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
