Honda Repair: 1987 honda accord lxi, mechanic shop, honda accord lxi

HI Bill! I have a 1987 honda accord lxi that starts but when you step on the gas it turns off. The PGM~fi ( fuel injection light is on.The car has been at a mechanic shop for about 2 weeks, the mechanic now thinks it could be the "relay" but isn't sure.  what do u think could be wrong

If the mechanic thinks it is the relay, he should be able to test it before replacing. It could be the fuel filter or the fuel pump. The fuel filter is cheap and should be replaced if it has not been replaced in a while. This sounds like it is fuel related and each component can be checked to narrow down.
