Honda Repair: distributor, obdii code reader, chicking

Question
Bill  I have a 1996 Honda Civic EX 1.6 L4 SOHC that the check engine light keeps comming on, the first time was two years ago it stopped dead on the road I got it home did some chicking on it and it had Shorted the Coil inside the Distribor. I found a place to rebuild the Distribor for me with a lifetime Warranty, got it back installed it ran good for about six months and then the light came on, so I had someone test it with a reader and the code (P1362TDC Sensor No Signal) came up I kept on driving the car and sometime it would cut off while driving but it would start up again and show a Misfire code untill it quit Two weeks ago, this time it's the(Coil Again)sent it back to repair it again at no cost to me but this time the light came on right away. I got a new Equus OBDII code reader and the same code came up P1362 Do you have any thoughts on this that could help? I can't keep sending it back for rebuild... Need to find the problem!

I forgot to tell you Bob said the TDC Sensor was not Not Bad only the Coil but he put all new parts in it and I put a new cap, wires and plugs

Thanks Marty

Answer
Marty:
A lot of times the codes that come up on the scanner do not point directly to the problem, but a simptom of the problem, so be careful before you start changing out parts. Check the wiring diagram to see what is feeding the distributor voltage. From that you can see what may cause a TDC sensor reading failure.
Good luck.
