Honda Repair: 1991 honda accord, timming belt, 1991 honda accord

Question
Hi Chris, when I first start my honda for the day the motor stumbles slightly and then settles into a smooth idle. Could this be a symptom for something to fail in the future like the igniter in the distributor? I have also heard that the timming belt should be replaced around 60,000 miles. Mine has 130,000 and hasent been replaced that I know of. What could happen if the belt does fail. Thanks, Tom.

Answer
I PREFER YOU REPLACE THE TIMING BELT BEFORE OTHER PROBLEMS HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T REPLACE IT THEN THE TIMING BELT CAN SNAP OR SLIP AND IF IT SNAPS YOUR VALVES CAN BEND AND THEN YOUR WATER PUMP WILL GET RUINED SO IT WILL BE ALOT BETTER IF YOU REPLACE IT ASAP. IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A SPARK PROBLEM I WOULD CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS TO THE NGK'S IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY THAT MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM WITH A BETTER SPARK YOU GET A BETTER START UP.
