Hi Chris,
My daughter has a 92 Accord EX. Back in July it had a starting problem when it was hot. I replaced the fuel pump relay and it has been fine since then. That is until the day before yesterday. My daughter got home and parked the car (outside in San Luis Obispo CA)and it has not started since. It cranks sort of starts for a second or two and then dies. It has a new cap and rotor, plugs, a near-full tank of gas and has been serviced regularly, We changed the relay again and it still will not start. Someone suggested that the distributor might be bad. Please help!
Answer -
THAT COULD BE A POSSIBILITY BUT I WOULD PREFER GETTING A FUEL PRESSURE CHECK AND MAKE SURE TIMING ISN'T OFF BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DISTRIBUTOR IS EITHER IN INCORRECTLY THAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME I ACCIDENTALLY PUT THE DISTRIBUTOR ON THE INCORRECT WAY SO IT WOULD CRANK THEN START FOR A SECOND OR TWO THEN DIES LIKE YOU SAID YOURS DOES SO CHECK ON THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE IT OR THE RESISTORS ON THE DISTRIBUTOR ARE BAD THEN I WOULD JUST REPLACE THE WHOLE DISTRIBUTOR.

Thanks for answering Chris. The distributor has not been removed from the car so I feel safe in ruling that out as a possability. We did have the fuel pressure checked and it was fine. There has been another suggestion that it could be the ignition switch. If you hold the key in the START position the engine will continue to run (I told my daughter not to do that!), but as soon as it goes back to the ON position is when the engine quits. Also is there a way to check the diodes on the distributer? That sounds like a good reason for the problem also.

Answer
YES YOU CAN CHECK DIODES IM NOT SURE I REMEMBER HOW TO BUT IT HAS BEEN DONE IF THE KEY WORKS WHEN ITS IN THE START POSITION CHECK THE IGNITION CONSOLE MAYBE ITS FAULTY IF IT WORKS THAT WAY THEN IM SURE THE DISTRIBUTOR IS FINE SO I THINK THAT THE IGNITION IS REALLY CAUSING THE BIG PROBLEM.
