Honda Repair: odd stutter, intake runners, honda dealer

Question
Hello,
Ive got a 93 accord lx 2.2 auto. Newer plugs/cap/rotor/wires. It has a stutter at about 1500 rpm only under load. Clears up past 1500 rpm. Milage is still about the same, no noticeable change in power. Ran several tanks of hi-test with decent injector cleaner thru to no avail. Any ideas? Timing belt changed at the appro times. No check engine lite.

Answer
Gordon,

Let me guess. The shutter only happens around 1,800 rpm and when the car is warm. It does not happen cold.
The problem is clogged EGR ports in the intake manifold. It is a very common problem on your car. You need to clean all 4 intake runners where the EGR gas goes thru.
You can either remove the intake manifold and clean them that way, or the way I suggest is to drill out the plugs on the top of the manifold, clean the ports, then install new caps over the holes. It takes some knowledge to do this, and I would recommend having it done by a Honda dealer.
Good luck and thanks for the question,
Gene
