Honda Repair: Honda Prelude, honda prelude, v tec

Question
I have a 1993 Japanese imported 2.2 Si V-TEC Prelude. The distributor was changed last year. For a few days the car electrics were flashing on and off occasionaly, the car has now cut out and will start but won't keep running. If the ignition key is kept in the position to start the car it will run it, when the key comes back after the car has been started that the car cuts out. I have been told that this is likely to be an ignition switch. Is this the most likely cause or are there any other possible causes.

Your help is much appreciated.

Answer
Kathleen,
Thanks for the question.
You do indeed have a bad ignition switch.
Hint: You only need the electrical part of the switch. Make sure they only replace that part, or else you will be spending  a lot more money than nessary. Also you won't have to rekey the whole car to the new ignition switch.
