Honda Repair: Honda Civic 82 carburetor, gasoline consumption, gas milage

Question
I noticed recently that my Honda is not doing the right amount of Km per one gallon of gasoline. As I know from a mechanic, it should do 250 Km inside the city, in case its carburetor is well aligned. Do you think cleaning the carburetor and replacing gaskets will help improve the car gasoline consumption?

Answer
Jihad,
Cleaning the carb. may help a little with your gas milage. What you should do is make sure the car is in good running condition. Are the spark plugs in good shape? Is your air filter clean? Are the valves adjusted properly? Are your tires inflated properly? Those are the more important aspects of getting better gas milage.
Also your car is getting old. The gas milage will not be as good as when the car was new due to worn engine parts.
Thanks for the question.
