Honda Repair: 94 Accord Clicks but wont start., question thanks, chachi

Question
I have a 94 Accord that won't start. Most of the time when
you go to start it it will click. Occasionally, it will turn over.
This has gotten progressively worse.

The battery is a couple of months old. I thought that it
might be the starter or solenoid, but both tested good at
AutoZone. I also tested the switch (?) according to an auto
manual by hooking the battery directly to the small
terminal. When I did it clicked. Any ideas?

It is a 94 Accord. Manual transmission. 4 cyclinder V-tech.

Answer
Chachi,
Sounds like you have a bad starter. Even though it checked out ok at the time it was tested, it may still be bad. What you need to do is this. When the car just clicks and won't start, grab somebody that is around. Open the hood and have them tap on the starter as you HOLD THE KEY IN THE START POSITION. If it turns over, that tells you that the brushes in the starter are worn and therefore you need to replace the starter.
The click that you are hearing is the starter selnoid clicking. That tells you that the selnoid is ok, but says nothing about the starter motor.
Try that test and I think you will find the answer to your question.
Thanks for the question,
