Honda Repair: 1995 civic ex clutch, clutch pedal, head gaskets

Question
How do I replace my clutch?  Is there a web-site that shows the steps?  I have the chilton manual but it is very vague as to the steps to take.  The problem I am having was that my clutch pedal when pressed all the way began to cause a humming sound.  It would shift fine as long as the pedal was not pushed all the way to the floor.  The fluid level was ok in the master cylinder.  Since then, my father was driving my car and he said it has gotten worse.  Too bad to drive.  He took it to a shop and they said the clutch needed to be replaced.  I would like to know what clutch's are recommended and if this is a project that I should undertake.  I have replaced radiator's water pumps, head gaskets, etc... but have not yet done a clutch.  Please help.

Answer
Jim,
Replacing a clutch is a big job. If you answer yes to these questions, then you should tackle the job.
1: Do you have all the tools. Air compressor, air tools, clutch alignment tool, Seal installer, jack stands, some sort of vaccum pump to bleed the system correctly.
2: Do you want to lye on your back, loosen the trans, and let it drop on your chest, then wiggle out from under the car. Or maybe (hopefully) you have access to a lift.
I would use Honda parts only. Too many times I  have seen aftermarket clutches come appart after 20k miles.
If you do replace the clutch, you should also do the master and slave cylinders.
Good luck,
Gene
