Honda Repair: SRS Lights, belt buckle, system failure

Question
Gene,
I own a 2000 Honda Accord, while driving one day, I noticed that my SRS light was on, I haven't had any impacts with my car, (that I know of).  Do you know what could have caused it to go on and how I can turn it off or reset it. Should I take it to a dealer to have it checked?
Thanks for any help!!!     Janice

Answer
Janice,

Your SRS light came on because the computer in your car found a fault with a part of you SRS system. You do not have to be in an accident for this light to come on.
You can't reset it yourself. You need to hook it up to a computer.
I would take it to a dealer and have them check it out. With that light on, your SRS system (air bags) may not work in the event of an accident.
The two most common problems in your car are:
1: OPDS system failure
2: Seat belt buckle failure.
You can take it to the dealer and ask them to diagnose it only for you. Cost will run about $50-90 to tell you whats wrong with the system.
Good luck Janice.
