Hyundai Repair: 99 Hyundai Elantra Speedometer Cable Replacement, air intake hose, hyundai elantra

I am installing a new 1999 Hyundai Elantra speedometer cable.  I have the cable through the firewall.  How do I install the rubber grommet?  There is no room to get one's hand into the area where the grommet installs on the firewall?

Hi, Ron.  The times I've done this, it's been difficult, but I've been able to seat it in the firewall from the engine side.  It was difficult to get my fingers positioned properly, and also difficult to push hard enough, but persistence was my friend.

You may find it easier to do this if you have the air box and air intake hose (between the air box and throttle body) removed.  

Otherwise, if your primary difficulty is reaching the grommet, you might try to find someone with skinny arms and long fingers.  If your primary difficulty is pushing hard enough, then perhaps you'll need to find someone with stronger hands.  Sometimes I forget that as an auto mechanic, my hand and finger muscles are more developed than the average do-it-yourselfer.
