now  tranny  slow  to  engage

Hi, Randal.  Not only does the ignition coil not affect transmission engagement, I cannot think of anything you could possibly disturb in the process of replacement that would affect transmission engagement.  So I'd say to start diagnosing this normally as if there were no ignition coil issue to begin with.

A slow engagement could be caused by a low fluid, a faulty pulse generator, or a faulty range switch.  This could also be indicative of a serious internal transmission problem.
