Hyundai Repair: removing emergency brake cable on 2002 hyundai accent, hyundai accent, penetrating oil

Question
I have the brakes taken apart. I pulled off a wire clip on the brake cable, applied penetrating oil. Nothing moves. How do I get the cable off? Thank you in advance!

Answer
If you're trying to remove the cable from the shoe, there should be a spring-loaded attachment at the parking brake arm on the shoe.  To disconnect from the shoe, you'll need to pull back the spring and slip the cable out of the u-shaped portion of the arm.

If you're trying to remove the cable altogether, it should pull out of the hole in the backing plate once the clip is removed and it is disconnected from the shoe.  If you've already done that and cannot get it to move, continue with the penetrating oil, being both persistent and patient.
