Hyundai Repair: fan noise, hyundai tiburon, phillips screwdriver

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon and whenever I turn on my fan or a/c, it works but there's a noise.  The noise sounds like something might be caught in the fan.  The noise is also coming from where the foot area is on the passenger side below the glove compartment.  As the speed of the fan is increased the sound of the noise is more high pitched.  What is making that noise and what can I do to get rid of the noise?  Is it possible for me to fix something like that or should I take it to a mechanic?

Answer
Typically, this type noise is caused by a leaf or other debris in the fan.  If you've basic mechanical skills, you should be able to remedy such a problem yourself.  Simply take a Phillips screwdriver and remove the blower fan assembly from the bottom of the air box (indeed under the passenger side of the dash).  It's held in place by three screws, but there may be a couple of brackets and some wiring you'll need to move out of your way as well.  Once you've got the fan out, simply remove any foreign objects and reinstall.
