Hyundai Repair: sliping transaxle, hyundia santa fe, factory transmission

my 2002 hyundia santa fe with automatic transaxle, v6 and all time 4 wheel drive has slipping issues. it proceeds as follows start up is fine engine runs great when vehicle is cold gears are properly engaged by shifter and transmission shifts properly on its own no noise or irregularities are apparent at this time. once vehicle is up to operating temp and shifter in drive or manumatic transmission starts to slip motor revs as pedal is pushed and vehicle will no longer move,as the gas is pushed at this time there is also a rapid clicking sound from the transaxle area trans fluid is to capacity and new clean filters installed dealer said no trouble codes were retrieved but they will repair to the tune of 3600.00 dollars any help you could give me would be greatly appriciated my wife loves this gem of mechanical engineering.thanks again   jim.

Everything you've written is consistent with an internal transmission problem requiring a replacement or overhaul.  If you wish to repair this vehicle, I'd recommend going with a factory remanufactured transmission installed by the dealer or other reputable shop.  $3600 sounds a just a little expensive for this (although that may be due to your geographic location), so you might try calling some other dealers in the area as well as other shops (and specify you want them to use a factory transmission).
