Auto Insurance Claims: Rental auto accident, claims advice, claim help

Question
I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING A FRIENDS RENTAL CAR AND NOT ON HER INSURANCE NOR LISTED OM THE VEHICLE AS AN ADDITIONAL DRIVER. I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND HAVE BEEN PUT ON PAIN MEDICATION FOR MY INJURIES. CAN I BE COMPENSATED?

Answer
Hello Sharetha,

Who was at fault for the accident?  Did your friend buy coverage from the rental company or his/her own company?

As pertains to the rental company, and speaking from an insurance standpoint, I see no chance of recovery from them for anything.  If your friend's personal insurance was holding coverage, you might be entitled to something depending on the coverages on that policy, the laws in your state, and the terms of that insurance policy.  Do you own a car?

But what it all boils down to is liability.  Meaning who is at fault.  If you were hit by an at fault driver and you are injured, you could collect bodily injury from that driver's coverage.  That is, assuming there is bodily injury coverage.

If your injuries are severe, and you are not at fault, you might want to consult with a personal injury attorney to see what, if any coverage exists to compensate you for your pain and suffering.

Hopes this helps.
