Hyundai Repair: 2007 Elantra Wont Start, crankshaft position sensor, engine cranks

Question
My Elantra started this morning then died instantly.  I have checked all fuses and they are fine.  Timing Belt is good.  It is firing.  Replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor. That wasn't it either.  I have 115k miles. (yea I drive a lot).  Next I am going to my Fuel Pump's and Filters.  Can anyone help me and tell me what I am overlooking.  It is driving me nuts!!

Answer
There's quite a few things that could be causing your problem.  I'll presume that the engine cranks but does not start.  In this situation, you'll want to determine the missing ingredient-- is there spark, are the injectors firing, is there fuel pressure?  Once you know the nature of the problem, it's easier to look at the potential causes for that type of problem.

Certainly, a defective fuel pump could be the issue.  Do you get fuel pressure when you attempt to start the engine?

Additionally, when you say "it is firing," does this mean you've verified spark, or does it mean something different?
