Hyundai Repair: Sounds like a front axle bearing, brake caliper, zirk
QuestionHello - We have a 2005 Accent, manual trans., and have noticed a squeak coming from the front drivers side wheel area. Not so long ago I would have thought that the bearing needed repacking or replacing but when I looked around behind the tire, things look a little different! I saw a single Zirk fitting on what looked like a brake caliper and that was all the lube fittings I could find. I found nothing in the owners manual to help. Any recommendations?
AnswerThe front hub bearings (and other suspension components) on your Accent are sealed and cannot be lubricated. Normally, they make a humming noise when worn. If you are indeed hearing a squeaking noise, I might suspect worn brake pads causing the wear indicator to rub.
