Motorcycle Repair: gas leak, vacuum line, motorcycle shops

Question
Hello, I have a 47cc mini motor cycle single speed , ive only had for a couple of months and the vacum hose that runs from the carburature is leaking very rapidly after i shut off the engine.
can you tell me how to fix it? or what is wrong?

Answer
Brant, is this an MR50, a moped or just some kind of generic mini-bike?

If you have a leak at the fuel/vacuum line connection, then replace the hose with a proper one. Most auto parts and many motorcycle shops only sell SAE American dimension hose, but you may really need metric dimension hose to fit the ends. You can ask for it in mm, but you have to measure the fittings on the ends as it comes in many small increments.

If the carburetor is leaking, then the float valve may be dirty or worn. This will require removal of the carburetor, followed by inspection and cleaning or replacement of the parts.

Normally there is a petcock (fuel valve) on the fuel tank that will shut the fuel off when the bike is not being used. If the valve is not shutting the fuel flow off, it may need to be repaired or replaced so it can do its job correctly.

That is about all I can tell you w/o correct make/model info.
