Hyundai Repair: 2003 Tiburon power lock problem, actuator, latch

Question
The remote recently stopped working on the passenger door.  The manual lock/unlock will also not work on that door.  It is currently in a permanently locked state.

The driver's door works normally.

Is there any way to 1) get the door unlocked? or 2) reset the power lock system?

Thanks for any advice.

Answer
You won't be able to reset the power locks.  The problem is that the actuator in the door is locked in one position.  If my memory is correct, the actuator and latch come as one assembly.

The only way I've been able to open doors in this case is to roll the window down, pry the plastic cover off the latch with a long rod, and then use the rod to push the mechanism on the latch to get the door open.  I'd recommend getting the replacement latch first, so you can do it all at once without needing to shut the door again.  Otherwise, you'll have nearly the same amount of difficulty opening the door the second time.
