Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai Elantra Rear wiper motor replacement, hyundai elantra, 2000 hyundai elantra

Question
Need to replace the rear wiper motor.  I removed the inside trim so that the actual motor can be removed, looks like 2 bolts and one connector.

The nest step appears to be removing the wiper arm.  Removed the 10mm nut holding the arm to the shaft.  Now I cannot physically remove the arm.  I am assuming that it is press fit onto a spline.  Since the shaft is through the glass I am afraid of applying to much pressure.  Do not want to crack the glass.  Any suggestions? Do I need a special tool?

It appears once I get the arm off there is still one more nut to be removed.

Or am i totally off base.

Thanks so much for you input.

Answer
You're exactly on the right track here, except that the splines are tapered-- the arm simply slides on and doesn't need to be pressed.  Usually, it can be broken free by grabbing the arm a little away from the pivot shaft and flexing it up and down.  Make sure the wiper motor is still bolted securely in place when trying this.

If that doesn't break it loose, you might try using a hammer to gently tap on the motor shaft.  In this case, since you're replacing the motor, you don't need to be concerned about damaging the threads.

If that won't work either, the only other idea I have is to use a two-armed puller.  This is a device that has a screw in the middle to push and an arm on either side for pulling.
