Hyundai Repair: Hyundai accent Problem, hyundai accent 2001, transmission control module tcm

Question
Whenever i start my car(hyundai accent 2001 - automatic) after say 3 or 4 days, everything starts fine, except when i put the car in gear front or reverse, the car does not move unless i use full accelator for it to move. Once it has moved it works normally. Previously the car as soon as i put it in gear, it used to move slowly without me touching accelator.

Also soemtimes when i drive long distance the engine light came on. As soon as it came on i use to stop the car in hard shoulder , check and restart it used to be fine without any lights. It has happened twice now in 1 month.

Answer
Most likely, you have an internal transmission problem requiring overhaul or replacement.

The issue you report with the check engine lamp is consistent with a transmission related problem.  When the transmission control module (TCM) sees a problem, it will request the engine control module (ECM) to turn on the check engine lamp and will place the transmission in 3rd gear.  This state will remain until the ignition is turned off.  Upon restarting the engine, the check engine lamp will be off and the transmission will again shift normally until the problem is witnessed again by the TCM.

Before making expensive and extensive repairs check the trouble codes in the ECM and TCM.  This will help assess whether my supposition above is correct or whether there may be a minor issue.  Auto Zone and AAMCO have advertised they'll check the trouble codes for free.  Keep in mind, I'm interested in the actual code number, not someone's interpretation of what's causing that code to occur.
