Hyundai Repair: hyundai accent wiper problem, hyundai accent, wiper arms

Question
The wipers were not moving when turned on; it turned out to be the motor. The motor was replaced and the wipers worked for awhile. Recently though, they don't. The motor can be heard working but the wipers aren't moving. Can you please let me know what could cause this and if it is an easy fix or should I take it to my mechanic?

Answer
Chances are this is an easy fix.  The most common problem is that the nuts at the wiper arm pivots come loose.  This is most common in wintertime because attempting to operate wipers which are frozen to the windshield or to clear a significant amount of snow with the wipers can put too much pressure on the arms, causing the nuts to come loose.  Simply check the nuts at the wiper pivots to make sure they're tight.

If the nuts are indeed tight, you'll need to inspect the wiper linkage-- something has come apart.  You can access this by removing the wiper arms and the cowling at the base of the windshield.
