Hyundai Repair: error codes, obd ii code scanner, crankshaft position sensor

Question
I have a 2004 santa fe 2.7 engine. When I start car on wet days I have a problem. The check engine light comes on and car runs like crap.I hooked up a OBD II code scanner and it comes up with error code PO335 which is crankshaft postion sensor A circuit malfuntion. Also code P1372 comes up and says manufacturer specific.I cleared the code out and car runs fine until another wet day comes and it does the same thing. This started when I had the serpintine belt changed. Is it possible that they damaged the sensor because it has to be close to that section of the engine.

Answer
Both P0335 and P1372 (segment time error) refer to problems with the crankshaft position sensor signal.  The typical cause of this code is that the insulation for the crank sensor wires is brittle and cracking, allowing a short circuit.

On the 2.7L engine, this sensor is not near the drive belt.  In fact, it's behind the starter where it is not only difficult to get to, but it's far enough out of the way that it'd be nearly impossible to damage it by accident.

Replacing the crank sensor should solve your problem.
