Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens snowblower, friction disc, friction drive

Question
I have an 02 Ariens snowblower #932101 S#034766. My problem is with the shift fork that moves the friction disc. The fork slides out of its mounting holes causing it not to move the disc. I have looked at it, lined up the bearing, put it back in the mounting holes and it keeps falling out when I shift it. There are no holes in the fork shaft for a cotter pin, but I can't figure out what holds it in place and keeps it from sliding out of the mounting holes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Jerry:

Sure, No Worries. From your Description it Sounds like; 1- The Shift Carrier is Binding or the Shift Fork is Weak and Requires Replacing. The Design of the Shifter Fork is to Alert the Operator of a Problem with the Shift Carrier and Related Components. I Suggest you Inspect, Clean and Lubricate the Shift Carrier or Replace it or Any Components Required. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. The Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Ariens) and Enter the Model Numbers (932101). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area.Select the Sectional File. Now you can View the Section of the Mower that Pertains to this Repair. Select the Friction Drive File. Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
