Hyundai Repair: 2007 Santa Fe, wheel disc brakes, disc brakes

Question
I have a 2007 Santa Fe with 50000 miles on it.  We just back from Ohio where we were in the snow for a week.  It drove fine all the way home.  A few days after we got home, when applying the brakes, it sound just like the pads are grinding.  I pulled one of the front tires and checked the pads, but the pads look good.  Is it possible the brakes need cleaning from maybe the salt up in Ohio?  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Since your vehicle is equipped with four wheel disc brakes, there's nothing to clean.  It's more likely that the rotors have rust on them or that the pads are worn at one of the other wheels.  Start by checking the pads at all wheels.  You should be able to see outboard pads through the spokes without removing the wheel.  If all the pads appear okay, you may want to drive it for a few days to see if the noise stops.  If not, take it to have it checked.  It's not worth chancing a problem with the brake system.
