Hyundai Repair: headlight removal, prying device, korean cars


Question
what holds a headlight in on my 2003 elantra,I have all the screws out and the eletrical port unplugged,and it still wont budge!trying to change burned out headlight on drivers side,cant reach because of battery,so thought this way would be easier-no more korean cars for me this sucks!!!!

If your hands are small enough, you can sneak the bulb in/out with one hand, but this probably requires you to be reasonably familiar with how the bulb and retaining clip are installed in the lamp.

There are three 10mm bolts holding the headlamp in place.  Two are on the top of the headlamp and one is at the bottom in the rear.  The head of the bolt will be facing upward.  If you have all three of these bolts out, the headlamp should pull out the front.  Sometimes, it'll catch on the bumper cover and you'll need a prying device (choose something fairly wide, preferably plastic or wood, to help keep from damaging the bumper cover to pry the bottom of the lamp up and away from the bumper.

If you're still having trouble removing the headlamp, it may be easier to remove the battery instead.
