Hyundai Repair: Low oil, low oil pressure, pep boys

Brought car to Pep Boys for new tires and oil change. After service, tech from Pep Boys took for a test drive. Car quite running. They had to push car into shop. When asked why they were pushing car ,tech said he did not put in enough oil and the motor siezed. They filled with oil and tryed to start engine , Would not start. Manager says that there is a sensor that senses low oil pressure and shuts down the engine. THey poured oil into the cylinders and the car did finally start with much oil smoke. The manager said that is they way to reset the sensor and the car started . Is there such a sensor that does shut down the engine when it senses low oil pressure.  Could this have caused some engine damage. They say the car is OK. I would not take the car . I told them that I want it taken to the dealership to be checked out. Vehicle is a 2006 Hyundai AccentLow oil

damn, that is some really bad news.  Those punk ass kids working with heads up their ass can really f**k up some shit and fast. It's an epidemic across the US. Sounds like a legal issue, so your best bet would be to hire or marry a lawyer. Otherwise, just plan on selling that car as fast as possible.  i believe there could be such a sensor as was talked about but who could even begin to prove that 20,000 miles or so has been knocked off the life expectency of your motor?  No one can prove that, at least not without buying some hyundai engineer a plane ticket to come over here to america from korea and hire a translator and pay them all by the hour/day to do the evaluation and court thing with your $100-$300 dollar an hour lawyer.  Probably be able to buy a new car for all that would cost.

Sorry i cannot give you any more news than that and that being just opinion of this expert auto painter which is what i signed up for on this website.  I do not know why i keep getting mechanic questions.  Maybe call a hyundai dealer service advisor at another dealership than the one that they towed your car to and run all that by him and see what he says.
