Question
ever time i fill up my 1997 hyundai eletra i have promblems with sputtering when takeing off i had a test ran on it and had misfire from all for cyclenders someone told me that it could be the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump. i just stared to hear my fuel pump run alot more than offten

Answer
Your fuel pump should be running anytime your engine is running.  Considering this, I think you may be hearing your fuel pump more frequently because you're paying attention to it more frequently.

If you've read some of my previous answers, you'll see that I like to have the code numbers themselves.  For example, in this case, you've told me that a test was run and that all four cylinders were misfiring.  Since all cylinders misfiring is a rare condition, and if they all misfired at once, the engine would stop running, it leads me to doubt whether they are all in fact misfiring.  Additionally, I don't know what tests were run, so I don't know how reliable they are.  If you have this information, these are all things I'd like to know, because they'll help me develop a better idea of exactly what's occurring with your vehicle, and in turn, allow me to do a better job of pointing you toward your actual problem.

Although the fuel pressure regulator is technically a possibility here, it's doubtful that's the case.  I've not seen or heard of a single case where a fuel pressure regulator caused a misfire.  The fuel pump is consistent with misfiring on all cylinders since it would affect all cylinders equally, but low fuel pressure tends to first manifest itself during high-speed acceleration, not acceleration from a stop.

I'll finish with my standard advice that most misfires, especially those that occur on acceleration, are caused by secondary ignition system (spark plugs, plug wires, ignition coil) problems.  If you don't have evidence to the contrary, you should start your diagnosis by checking these items.  But by all means, if your check engine lamp is on and you can report the codes to me, please follow up with that information.
