why does hyundai recomend using 5w 20 oil, even though i live in south texas. seems like 5w 30 or even 10w30 would be a better choice. 95 to 100 degrees is common.

Hello Michel,
They reccommend 5/20 in general but their reccommended oil chart shows different weights for different temperatures. I work in California and we always use 10/30 on all Hyundai vehicles. So, you are right. 10/30 is the best choice for Texas.
