Hyundai Repair: 2001 santa fe, hyundai santa fe, crankshaft pulley

Question
QUESTION: This will be the first time to change oil filter on 2001 hyundai santa fe can you give me  some advice?

ANSWER: Hello,
Make sure black seal on the old oil filter does not stick to its seat. Sometimes it stays on the filter seat and you put the new filter which already has a seal.It starts to leak and cause big problems. After you remove the old oil filter check  to make sure that the seal is still on it. Clean the surface that filter sits and lube the seal on the new filter. Put it on carefully and tight it by hand (not by any tool).Do not leave it loose and do not overtighten it. After putting new motor oil , run the engine for 5-10 minutes and check underneath to make sure  oil pan gasket and oil filter are not leaking.

QUESTION: I can't seem to find the filter can u tell me to find it and will drain plug nearby?

Answer
Hello again,
First of all, if your vehicle is equipped with engine splash guard, you need to remove it. It is a big black plastic cover under the engine and requires 12 mm socket and ratchet to remove.
If your engine is 2.4l; oil filter is behind the right engine plastic cover, next to crankshaft pulley.
If it is 2.7: oil filter is located at the lower/front side of the engine. It is under the a/c compressor.
On both engines, oil drain plug is at the back side of the oil pan. It requires 17 mm.socket.
