Hyundai Repair: hesitation/no 1st start, cylinder misfire, cylinder number

Question
I have a 1997 Accent and have had 2 problems, possibly related.  First, the starting issue.  It frequently doesn't start on the first attempt, but will on the second attempt.  Then it is fine.  it is becoming more and more frequent.  It used to be once every few weeks, now its once a day (approximately).  The second, when my car is at idle and a red light, with or without the a/c (worse with a/c on which was aftermarket), it misses, and hesitates.  When I start to advance, it holds back like a standard transmission in the wrong gear ( but my car doesn't rock and jump).  It is an automatic tranny.  Repairs we have done are spark plugs (seems to be done every 2 months as car dies instantly from 3rd cylinder misfire), fuel pump, air filter, battery was replaced, ignition wires.  The car has 155,000 kms on it.

There have not been any codes displayed except for the spark plug cylinder 3 misfire.

Answer
Hi T.C.
I think your engine has compression loss at cylinder number 2. This might be the reason for both of your problems. Have a compression check performed. P0303 Cyl.No3 misfire detected code only shows that no3 cylinder is missing. If you have a low compression on that cylinder, that will set the same code.
