Hyundai Repair: 1999 Hyundai Sonata error codes P1134 + P0705, hyundai sonata, range switch

Question
My check engine light came on and when i realized it was on, I looked on my dash and my D and 3 gear lights were lit up at the same time. Did I ruin my transmission? The P1134 error code read fuel-air metering, and the P0705 error code read Transmission Range Sensor circuit malfunction (PRNDL Input) is this serious? Thanks so much! -sara-

Answer
Hello Sara,
No, you did not ruin your transmission. This is an external problem.P1134 is telling us that upper O2 sensor on bank 1 -which is firewall side- is responding slow and needs to be replaced. P0705 is showing the transmission range switch -which is located on the top of the transmission just under the battery tray- has given up. That is why the shifter indicator lights acting weird. Replacing these two parts will take care of your problem.
