Question
i have 2002 elantra.when i turn steering wheel all the way to right or left it makes noise.what can cause this problem and how can i solve it?
thank you very much for your answer

Answer
Presuming this is a squeal noise, it's likely that a drive belt is slipping.  Check both the power steering and alternator belts for proper tension.  The power steering belt should deflect just a little when a small amount of pressure is applied to it, and the alternator belt should not deflect at all when a small amount of pressure is applied.

Also, holding the steering wheel at the steering stop on either side creates tremendous pressure in the power steering system.  If enough pressure is created, this can overcome even properly tensioned belts.  While I understand that the steering wheel will be turned all the way to the stop from time to time, a conscious effort should be made to avoid holding the wheel in that position.
