Hyundai Repair: rotors on 01 sonota, phillips screws, heavy hammer

Question
Can we replace the rotors on our 01 sonata by ourselves or do we have to put it in the shop?

Answer
Most do-it-yourselfers should be able to handle this job.  Simply remove the wheel and caliper (with bracket), remove the Phillips screws (if present) attaching the rotor to the hub, and "slide" the rotor off the hub.  I use quotation marks because although the rotor is designed to slide off, it often rusts to the hub and must be knocked off with a heavy hammer.  Once you have the old rotor off, the new one should slide on easily.  Then, simply reinstall the caliper (compressing the piston if necessary) and wheel.
