ANSWER: The on-board diagnostic system on this vehicle is rather basic, so there are many things it cannot detect.  For now, I have a few questions that may help me determine what sort of problem you're having.

1.  Does your check engine lamp stay illuminated?
2.  Are you able to detect a misfire on your own?  If so, is your engine misfiring?
3.  Does your engine run roughly or as smooth as normal?
4.  Do you have the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder or the 3.0 liter V6?

QUESTION: thanks for the fast reply.... the check engine lamp goes off as normal there are no misfires and the engine runs rough the engine is a 2.0 liter dohc when i started it up again i noticed that there was no flow coming out of the rear exhaust, and every time i rev the engine the back exhaust looks like it is being pushed away from the rear of the car... does my type of engine have valves on the exhaust manifold and could they be stuck? i also looked in the rear pipe for animals and bananas and it was clean....

Answer
Since you say the engine runs rough, I thing we should concentrate on that first.  Often this indicates a misfire, so I'm a little suspicious about the correctness when you say there are no misfires.  (This is an area where things become difficult for me because I typically don't have enough interaction to detemine the capabilities and experience of questioners like yourself).

If you haven't done so already, I'd say the next step is to one-by-one disconnect and reconnect the injectors while the car is running.  Each time an injector is disconnected, the engine should run significantly rougher.  If it doesn't there's a misfire on the disconnected cylinder.  This process is likely to set the check engine lamp, so don't be concerned if it comes on.
