Hyundai Repair: 2005 Tib GT, Transmission issues already?, bumper to bumper warranty, transmission damage

Question
I was just at Aamco to have them check two things:  a) the check engine light, and b) the transmission shifting poorly.  They said the light was my o2 sensor (already?) and the transmission shifting hard from 2-3, and sometimes 3-2, occassional slip, etc... wasn't sending any codes.  The fluid was full and clean, and hasn't been touched since I bought the car.  He said he wasn't getting any communication from the transmission computer.  He also said he was leaning toward it being an electrical problem rather than an internal transmission problem.  I can't see how I could have internal transmission damage after only 2 years, and if it was, the fluid wouldn't have been clean.  Is it electrical?  And the dealership says it might not even be covered under warranty?

Answer
Not knowing how many miles are on your vehicle, it's difficult for me to give you the likelihood that repairs will be covered under warranty.  The bumper-to-bumper warranty is for 5 years/60,000 miles, so if you're under 60k, chances are good most repairs will be covered, including the oxygen sensor.

In regard to the transmission shifting issue, Hyundai has released a reprogram for your transmission control moduoe to address a "firm or abrupt shift" from second to third gear.  Your dealer will be the only place that can perform this servicing.  It's detailed in technical service bulletin 06-40-006.
