Hyundai Repair: Hyundai & Speed Sensor Problem, hyundai sante fe, shift cable

Question
I have a 2001 Hyundai, Sante Fe, V6, 2.7L Engine.  Each year the car has the same problem, it gets stuck in 3rd gear...the mechanic tells me that it the speed sensor that keeps going bad.  Where is the speed sensor located? I would like to replace it myself so I would like to know what the codes represent and were the sensor(s) are located.  The codes the mechanic gave me are P1529 & P0715.
Thanks

Answer
P0715 indicates there's a problem with the signal received from the input speed sensor.  P1529 indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) requested the engine control module (ECM) to turn on the check engine lamp.

The input speed sensor is located just under the bracket holding the shift cable onto the transmission.  To replace, you'll need to remove the air cleaner box and unbolt the shift cable bracket from the transmission.  Then it's simple matter of unbolting and replacing the sensor.
