Hyundai Repair: noisey drive shaft/diff on tiburon/ coupe 98 model, grating noise, cv joint

i have a grating noise coming from the left driveshaft near to the gearbox it is a uk car so gearbox is also on the left do you think it is a knackered driveshaft or something to do with the diff and is there a way of oiling or greasing the diff please help

Most likely, the noise is coming from the differential itself, but it could also be caused by something that has come apart in the inner cv joint.  You'll probably need to run the car on a lift to listen and locate the source of the noise.  

The differential is lubricated by the transmission fluid (or gear oil if you have a manual), so as long as you have fluid in the transmission, it should be lubricated.
