Hyundai Repair: TPS, throttle position sensor, digital voltmeter

Question
I HAVE A 1999 SONATA 2.5L V6. I NEED TO KNOW WHEN RELACING THE TPS ON THIS VEHICLE , DO I NEED TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS????.

Answer
According to the shop manual, this sensor should be adjusted via the idle switch, but I see by the schematic that your idle switch has no idle switch included.  Since it's been quite a while since I've needed to replace a throttle position sensor on an engine similar to yours, I don't recall whether it's adjustable.  But you can determine this by inspecting your sensor.  If the mounting holes are slotted, the sensor will be adjustable by rotating.  If round, the sensor needs no adjustment.

To adjust the sensor, you'll need to probe a digital voltmeter between the black/white wire and blue wire in the TPS connector.  The specification is between 250 and 800mV when the throttle is closed.  Ideally, you'll aim for the middle of that range, about 525mV.  If the sensor is adjustable, you can simply loosen the mounting screws and rotate the sensor until the desired output voltage is reached.
